Khadijah Abdulhamid, a student from Sweet Haven Secondary School in Kano State, has refused to shake hands with Oliver Alawuba, the Chief Executive Officer of United Bank of Africa (UBA), during an award presentation ceremony.

According to Arewa abbkar on X, she had declined the handshake based on religion sentiment “My religion forbids this,” Khadijah had reacted.
Mixed reactions had, however, followed her action; while some felt the need to respect her decision, others castigated her citing religion intolerance.
