Warri Refinery Petrochemicals Company (WRPC), had begun operation up to 60 per cent capacity in Warri Delta State.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited revealed this adding that the company is capable of 125,000 barrels per day.
This was disclosed by Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the state-owned oil company, during a visit to the site of the facility on Monday.
Addressing his team before the tour round the facility, Kyari said the plant, though not working up to 100 percent yet, is still a ‘work in progress’. “We are taking you through our plant. This plant is running. Although it is not 100 per cent complete, we are still in the process. Many people think these things are not real. They think real things are not possible in this country. We want you to see that this is real,” he said.
According to reports. the petrochemical plant has an annual production capacity of 13,000 metric tons of polypropylene and 18,000 metric tons of carbon black.
Kyari, in his remark, congratulated the team for their determination and resolve that the company could be resuscitated.
